We started to meet up every month or so for a jam session and these eventually turned into fairly regular Thursday evening duet recording sessions, with a takeaway from the chippy. Since those early beginnings we became very good friends. We had a good laugh with Jim Tidmarsh on bass and Ron Innes on drums, but I was still unconvinced about joining a band. Somehow he even managed to twist my arm into doing a test session, hiring a room in the Braintree Town Hall. Steve tried to convince me to start a band with him, but I had learned at a very early age that that wasn't for me. Steve had signed up to an "Open Mic" night and played a few Shadows tunes whilst I enjoyed a pint. We met in the Golden Lion in Romford marketplace. I contacted him and we arranged to meet up. I didn't know Steve then and I didn't want to be in a band, however, I saw a like minded person who was possibly interested in getting together for a jam. Around ten years ago I had been browsing through the Shadows Club page ( ) one day and I came across Steve Reynolds wanting to start a band.
